About us

We are a small group of Christians who have seen the difficulties and inequalities faced by the poor in Cape Town and who desire to demonstrate the love of God by doing something about it. The possible motivations for helping others are as manifold as we are, but if we are not driven first and foremost by love for God and gratitude for His grace, we probably will not have the long-term stamina, passion, or discipline needed to help without hurting.

Mission

To assist underprivileged children in getting the educational foundation needed to shape their minds and to give them the best chance to succeed in school and life.

Vision

We desire to partner with local crèches/ pre-schools to sponsor children whose parents are not able to afford the school fees. In this way, the ECD’s can be assured of income and acquire the needed resources and training and the children receive quality education at this critical age.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

– Proverbs 22:6

Objectives

During the first year of life a child’s brain doubles in size and by age 5 has reached 90% of its adult size.

A child’s experiences in these early years directly affects how the brain develops, with a long-term impact on the child’s health and ability to learn and succeed in school and life. The seeds of a healthy, successful life and the ability to succeed in school are planted and flourish in these early foundational years.

To keep the children off the streets.

To honour God by caring for and valuing disadvantaged children

To support local crèches and pre-schools.

To join hands with parents and crèche owners to give every child the right educational foundation.

To serve as a feeder for programs that can continue the journey with the children as they progress through school and life

Will you “take a hand”?

We are requesting that you consider partnering with us as we impact and alter the journey of young disadvantaged children in informal settlements.

What they need is people – individuals and companies – to take hands with them and help by donating the fees needed to ensure their placement in an ECD and to ensure that they benefit from nurturing input during this critical time in their lives when the foundation for their future is established.

While we are looking for people to sponsor a child fully, it may well not be feasible for everyone who wants to be part of changing a life for the better. So, we would welcome any amount given, preferably, monthly but would also welcome once-off donations that can be used in the same way.

In return, we undertake to inform you of the progress of the child and his/her attendance at least once a quarter.
